Which size should I choose for the Wrap Skirt?

Our Wrap Skirts are adjustable, thanks to their long ties, and offer more flexibility than a fixed-waist skirt.

We recommend wearing the wrap skirt with the opening flap toward the back for a more modern feel. If you are between sizes, we usually suggest choosing the larger size for more overlap and coverage.

You can also check our Size Guide for more help.

Still unsure? Email us at contact.onsem@gmail.com and we will be happy to help you find the best size.

What is the difference between the Midi Wrap and the Long Wrap?

Both skirts have an adjustable wrap design, but the fit and feel are slightly different.

The Midi Wrap has a refined A-line shape and a shorter length, making it easy to wear every day.

The Long Wrap offers more length and additional wrap coverage, making it especially flattering for taller customers or anyone who prefers a little more overlap around the hips.

If you are unsure between the two, we are happy to help you choose.

How do I know if the Elastic Midi Skirt will fit me?

The Elastic Midi Skirt is designed with a comfortable elastic waistband, allowing it to fit across several waist sizes.

You can wear it higher on the waist for a more defined silhouette, or slightly lower on the hips for a more relaxed fit.

Please check our Size Guide for exact measurements, or email us at contact.onsem@gmail.com if you need help choosing your size.

Is the color true to the photo?

We do our best to make our photos as true to color as possible.

However, colors may vary slightly depending on your screen, monitor settings, lighting, and digital photography. Product images are intended as a close guide, but may not be absolutely exact.

If you have any doubt about a specific print, please contact us and we will be happy to send additional photos or videos.

I am concerned the African wax fabric may feel stiff.

African wax cotton can sometimes feel a little crisp at first, especially when it is new.

When we visit our suppliers in the Bronx, we carefully look for fabrics that feel softer and comfortable to wear. The fabric will naturally soften after a few washes, while keeping its vibrant color and beautiful structure.

We recommend washing your skirt on a gentle cycle and air drying it.

Why are there so few skirts per fabric?

At onsēm, we buy only a few yards of each fabric at a time.

This means that for each print, we can usually make only a very small number of skirts — sometimes just 2 or 3 pieces in a specific design and size.

We do this to avoid waste, stay true to our slow fashion values, and create small-batch pieces that feel truly special. Some prints are one-of-a-kind and may not be available again.

So if you fall in love with a print in your size, it may be worth ordering before it disappears. Once a fabric sells out, it may not come back.

Do you make skirts to order?

Sometimes, yes. Because we only buy a few yards of each fabric, we may not always have enough left to make another piece. But if you love a print, please email us at contact.onsem@gmail.com and we can let you know whether we still have fabric available.

How long does a made-to-order wrap skirt take?

A wrap skirt takes several hours to make.

As we are a small team, please allow approximately 7-9 business days for a made-to-order skirt to be produced.

We will always do our best to have it ready as quickly as possible.

Can I try onsēm skirts in person?

Yes. We regularly take part in local markets and pop-ups, where you can see the prints, feel the fabrics, and try on different skirt styles and sizes in person.

This is also a great way to compare the Midi Wrap, Long Wrap, and Elastic Midi Skirt before choosing the right fit for you.

Visit our Markets & Pop-Ups page to see where we will be next.

How should I care for my onsēm skirt?

We recommend washing your skirt on a gentle cycle with similar colors, then air drying it.

Avoid tumble drying, as it may affect the fabric and shape over time. A light iron or steam can be used if needed.

With proper care, your skirt will soften beautifully while keeping its color and structure.

Where are onsēm pieces made?

Our skirts and accessories are made in small batches in New York.

We source many of our vibrant African print fabrics from local suppliers in the Bronx, then produce our pieces with care through our small studio and local manufacturing partners.

Can I see the prints before ordering?

Yes. If you would like to see a print more closely before placing your order, email us at contact.onsem@gmail.com.

We are happy to send additional photos, videos, or arrange a quick video call to help you choose.
